Name: Giant Sea Turtles
Type: Sea Creature
Malevolent: No
Sentient: No
The giant sea turtles of Shinkami Dao are a wondrous sight to witness, their size can span from 30 to 150 feet long and just as wide. Completely peaceful, these creatures were hunted at first, but the discovery of the King Turtle quickly put a stop to that. The King Turtle is a unique member of this species who has grown to be several miles in size and old enough that the island of Wang Bu Gi had formed on his back. It is theorized that all the other turtles were his children which raises the question of where his mate had gone to. The turtles feed on sea grasses and schools of jelly fish and often form their own ecosystems due to their size. Smaller fish will use the turtles as shelter from predators while feeding on the parasites and algae that grow on their massive shells, cleaning them and forming a symbiotic relationship. Despite the turtles being considered sacred, the kingdom of the Kuroten has decided that there are better uses for these turtles and have begun capturing and converting them at special ports. This barbaric act has caused many to cry out against the Kuroten for their crimes against nature.
